Alleged N3.1bn Fraud: Federal Court Grants Ex-Benue Gov. Suswam N100m Bail


A Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday granted bail to former Benue State governor, Gabriel Suswam, who alongside the former Commissioner of Finance in the state are facing trial for alleged mismanagement of N3.1 billion belonging to the State.


The former governor and his commissioner, Omadaki Oklobia, pleaded not guilty to the 9 count charges of fraud and financial misappropriationlevelled against them. The charges border on Section 15(2, 3) of the Money Laundering Act (2011).

The court granted them bail in the sum of N100 million each, two sureties who must be senior civil servants of level 12 and above, or any person occupying a national office.

He added that the international passports of the two accused be submitted to the court registrar.

The court subsequently adjourned trial till December 8 and 9.
